Payment through Paypal is ok (I can send a separate invoice for total due). Everything works except the little clock on the dash. Bike has extremely low mileage at 13,499. Extremely comfortable ride that hauls ass. These bikes are old school power houses (((Not for beginners))). I have since decided to go with something else. I had the intention of keeping the bike for myself and built it accordingly and planned on installing hardbags for long trips. New stainless steel hardware used throughout bike. New gaskets on motor covers including the oil pan, clutch and trigger housing. As a result of the well-behaving engine and the heavier touring friendly chassis the GSX1100F doesn't feel like a factory racer. A great running older bike, fully serviced and ready to ride. Note the paint is faided on the top side of the tank. GSX1100F was among the fastest bikes in the world at the time, if not the fastest. This one has spent some time in the sun. The fine aerodynamics of the GSF1100F and the 136 hp engine gave the bike very good top speed. Its powerplant came originally from the GSX-R1100, retuned to provide more low-end and mid-range power. Nothing has ever struck me in quite the same way as the original Katana.įind this 1982 Suzuki GSX1100 Katana in Gilbert Arizona for $10,750 here on Craigslist.1988 Suzuki GSX 1100F Katana, GSX1100F is a high-performance sports tourer with full touring fairing with electrically powered height adjustable wind screen and wide dual seat with twin pillion grabrails. They are and continue to be a truly unique design. ![]() What a treat it would be to own one of these. The bike itself has just over 26,000 miles on it, which is low for 37 years old, but the bike has been used as it should be. The seller has done a decent amount of research on the history of the bike and included it with a good list of specs in the posting, making my job a little easier. To me it looks like the 80’s distilled into a motorcycle, the two wheeled equivalent of a DeLorean. The design was not just a visual achievement – the dipped seat design was used to make the rider feel more one with the machine, and Suzuki did comprehensive air tunnel tests to maximize the aerodynamics with a rider on it. Much of the bones would be from their GS line, but everything else would be radically different. ![]() They pulled in three German designers that had worked for BMW to design this new bike. The company wanted to bring something to market that would draw attention to their entire lineup. In the late 70’s and into the beginning of the 80’s, Suzuki had the performance part of the formula figured out, but their designs had become a bit stale. Love it or hate it, when it comes to the original Katana: mission accomplished. You just had to wow the consumer with design and performance. When the original Katana was designed in the early 80’s, there wasn’t a nostalgia market like there is today to tap. Suzuki is one of the latest to attempt it with the 2020 Katana. So many modern motorcycle designs are either modern interpretations of a worshipped design from decades past or a straight recreation of a classic with hidden modern components.
